Hello, my name is Anna, and I am 12 years old and my little sister Eva, is 6 years old. Last Christmas we made Christmas tree baubles to raise money for our homeless. With your help last year, we raised a total of 8.000 euro for two fantastic charities: Five Loaves Bray and Focus Ireland. This year with Covid restrictions we unfortunately could not sell Christmas baubles, so we decided to write a poem in honour of our homeless in the hope of helping those less fortunate than us again. We have teamed up again with Aoife and Gavin in Innov8 Ireland and we hope you like our work.
Here we are a year on, and there are still more than 10,000 people without a place to call home. Without a place to rest their heads at night out of the cold and rain. Without a kitchen to prepare food in or without a fireside to keep warm by. Home is where we feel happiest and safest. Every child and human being deserves a home. To quote the great Irish poet Padraic Colum on an old woman being homeless:
Thank you for helping us help our homeless again this year!
